Bannack State Park Campground Tipi Sunset

I took this photo at the Bannack State Park Campground at the Bannack Montana ghost town.

Later on, I took this photo of the same tipi just about sunset.
This tipi can be rented for overnight stays at one of the campsites in the Park.  Very cool.
My only complaint about Bannack State Park Campground was about the number of mosquitos.  (They sprayed later in the day after we left.)

Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park, Montana

The Lewis and Clark Caverns opened for the season on May 1st, and we were on hand for the first tours.  We were also the only campers in the campground.  My first photo is of the campground, taken from three miles away along the trail to the cavern entrance.  The rest of the photos are a small sampling of the hundred or so that I took.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous, after a nasty week of rain, wind and even snow.  The temperature in the morning was 18 degrees, but reached 66 by late afternoon.  This was a really cool experience.

Lake Como along the Bitterroot Mountains in Western Montana

We were on an early season campout with a new travel trailer and went for a walk (8 am, 19 degrees).  At least the wind wasn't blowing and it was a glorious sunshiny Montana morning!

A Decent, Recent Sunset Over the Bitterroot Mountains

A decent, recent sunset over the Bitterroot Mountains in western Montana.

This was taken just above the road that leads to our house, at a location where Linda Vista Boulevard and Miller Creek Road intersect, in Missoula, Montana.

Fishing the Eastern Front of the Rockies

This is the source of the Sun River, just below Gibson Dam in the Sun Canyon on the Eastern Front of the Rocky Mountains here in Montana.  The Bob Marshall Wilderness Area is behind this scene, and to the northwest is Glacier National Park.  The Sun River is pretty good trout fishing below the dam for a ways, and usually not too busy.  I didn't do so good the day I was out here, but it was still one of the best days I had during the year.  The scenery was spectacular and I shot some good photos.

This very rugged country, and the nearest town is Augusta, south east of here.  From Augusta take the Sun Canyon Road.  Veer left at Willow Creek Road to stay on Sun Canyon.  You will drive past the huge Sun Canyon Ranch on the way.

Watch out for Grizzly Bears.
